Welcoming guests since 1847
We know a thing or two about hospitality as we have been welcoming guests since 1847 – trust in our experience to provide you with a warm welcome and a comfortable stay.
This award winning Hotel is Stanley’s ‘local’ – an ideal place for a drink, to chat with the locals, watch sport on the big screen, play pool or listen to music. Lounge in the comfortable armchairs in the Bar by the blazing wood fire, browse the amazing collection of old black and white photos of Stanley dating back to the 1830’s. Enjoy good coffee, a great selection of Tasmanian wine, a Tasmanian cider, spirit or a beer on tap.
You might see the muddy boots left outside the door where our local farmers have popped in for a drink after dropping off their freshly dug potatoes or have a yarn to Stanley’s fisherman who provide us with our seafood just back from their daily catch.
We provide the usual pub fare with a stylish twist plus on trend restaurant dishes influenced by what we see out our windows – seafood, great steaks and farmed abalone. Try a scallop pie – a speciality, a famous Cape Grim steak or pizza by the fire.
Our suppliers are our friends and are just as likely to be sitting at the table next to you. Friendly, open and knowledgeable staff will make you feel very welcome. The Bistro is warm and spacious with views towards the amazing sunsets. You’ll need to book a table – it is popular.
The original stone cellars under the Hotel house stock our fine selection of wine including a great Tasmanian selection. We also have a good selection of beer, spirits plus great weekly specials.
After dinner climb the historic stairway to your ensuited freshly renovated room. Comfortable beds and great hot showers will leave you feeling refreshed for the next day to explore all of Stanley’s cafes, galleries, speciality stores and The Nut.
We’ll let you know where the best walks are which meander along the beaches, pathways and The Nut all with perfect views of the sea and surrounding Green Hills.
Explore further with a drive to Dip Falls, honey tasting at Mawbanna, a tour of Woolnorth, cruise the Arthur River or take the Tarkine Drive and explore the rugged West coast and Marrawah area, the Trowutta Arch is amazing – then back to us for another comfortable night.
